Team management
Purpose
The administrative centre for team composition and basic details.
Features
- Players: Add, edit and remove team players.
- Position preferences: Record players’ preferred positions, important for the AI planner.
- Team statistics: Team size, balance across lines and experience level.
- Stand-ins: Manage the regular stand-in pool, including active club players without a team. For a single match, add a stand-in directly through Match preparation → Attendance.
- Print: Export the team list and basic statistics to PDF.
- Constraints: Configure AI planner rules, such as “Players A and B must not be on the bench together”.
Team settings
As a coach, your team has General, Position coverage, Substitution strategy and Formations tabs. Under General, choose Male, Female, Mixed or Not set for Team composition. Click Save team settings. This does not set gender for individual players. Mixed does not yet make the planner enforce a male/female ratio.
Default match settings
Registration offers Outdoor, Indoor or Both, with Outdoor preselected. Then check game environment and formation under the team’s Formations. Select outdoor and indoor formations separately. Both shows both selectors. Switching between outdoor and indoor preserves the other choice. New matches use the formation for the selected environment.
In Substitution strategy, choose Standard or Advanced:
- Standard uses position preferences and one number of substitution moments per quarter. You can also set a maximum number of players per moment.
- Advanced is available for outdoor matches. For each line, configure substitution moments, maximum consecutive play, minimum bench rest and maximum substitutions. These settings are saved and used by the planner.
- Basic — lines appears in the selector but cannot be selected.
Choose Save team settings to save defaults for new matches. Zero substitution moments means substitutions only at quarter boundaries.
Creating a match copies team settings. You can choose different values for that match without changing the team default. Existing matches retain their settings if you change team defaults later.
Position coverage and substitution strategy
The pitch follows the team formation. Position coverage shows how many players can play each position. Tap a position to filter the player list; Show all players clears it.
Substitution strategy shows the configured strategy on the pitch. Save through Save team settings; Cancel preserves saved settings. Team analysis and the detailed pitch view remain available separately for further detail.
Planning preferences include At most one stand-in on the pitch at a time and Prioritise regular players in their position. Both default to enabled and can affect playing-time distribution. Read the substitution rules and preferences before reviewing a new proposal.
Your team for a new season
If an old team does not need carrying forward, click the cross beside its row. That choice is remembered in your coach profile for the new season across devices. The team and history are not deleted.
My profile → My context separates current teams from Previous seasons. Expand previous seasons to view an old team, start Prepare new season or restore a dismissed row with Show in Dugout again.
Open the active season in the Dugout. Previous teams from the same club appear as compact rows under Prepare for the new season, with their old name and season. Click the required row or Prepare to open the wizard. It never opens automatically.
- Enter the new team name, such as O16-1, and choose the previous team as a base, such as O14-1.
- Check which players, regular stand-ins and coaches carry forward. You can also select other existing club players and coaches. You remain linked as a coach.
- Choose a suitable outdoor or indoor formation, or leave it for later. Reconfigure match settings, KNHB team codes and old player agreements for the new team.
- Review and choose Create new team. The new team then opens.
The old team, matches and evaluations remain. Players retain their personal history even when team name or age category changes. A player not carried forward is not removed from the old team or club.
Later closes the wizard. Reopen it through the old team row in Dugout. These preparation rows do not appear when viewing historical seasons. Each previous team can be carried forward once to the same active season; further edit an already created team in Team management.
Team overview PDF
PDF downloads a landscape A4 overview in doHockey styling, with formation, statistics, player list and position analysis. It uses saved team details and the selected formation, with corresponding indoor or outdoor preferences. Temporary pitch movements are excluded. Each position shows the first player alphabetically with that first preference. No browser print window is needed.
The additional Player statistics page shows each player’s matches, goals, total and average playing time, preferred positions and positions played. Team summaries appear at the top. Figures concern recorded matches for this team and season. Players without recorded appearances remain visible. The average playing time at the top is total playing time divided by player count.
Blue bars compare playing time and green bars compare goals within the team. Exact figures remain visible. Preferred positions are blue and played positions orange.
The detailed team report also contains:
- First-, second- and third-preference coverage, including positions with few alternatives.
- Regular players, goalkeepers and linked stand-ins.
- Season playing time and starts, plus planned bench blocks from complete schedules.
- The next five matches and five recent results.
- Selection and absences per upcoming match. Selected does not mean attendance is confirmed.
- Linked coaches, trainer and team manager.
- Saved substitution restrictions and default substitution moments.
Missing data appears as unknown or not recorded. Free-text substitution policy, goalkeeper rotation and points of attention are not yet separate saved team agreements. Incomplete schedules are not presented as a complete bench-block count.
Gender per player
When adding or editing a player, choose Male, Female or Not specified under Gender and Save. Existing players remain Not specified until you change them. You can clear a choice by returning to Not specified. Male or Female adds a small icon beside the name in the player list; Not specified shows none.
This choice belongs to the player, including across multiple teams. Team composition does not fill it automatically. The planner does not yet enforce a male/female ratio.
For Mixed teams, every team player’s gender must be entered to complete Add players. While choices are missing, this step is orange and shows how many need attention. Their player icons also turn orange with Enter gender. Open those players to complete the choice. The check includes every team player, even with a position filter active. Other team compositions do not receive this warning.
In Attendance, Mixed teams show the female/male distribution of present players, including goalkeepers, plus the number unspecified. Complete missing choices directly in the list. Each choice saves immediately to the player profile and also applies in other teams. The next match step is available only when every listed player has a saved choice, including absent players and stand-ins. Retry a choice after a saving error. You can still navigate elsewhere or return to Team management to complete details. This applies only to Mixed teams.
