Indoor hockey
In developmentEscape the indoor corner safely
Escape a corner without forcing the ball through a trapped board route.
4 players · 8 min · 12 × 14 m
The animation shows one played situation with a decision and response, not a required pattern. Regains and restarts are marked schematically; stop unsafe pressure. Use grounded passes and low pushes; do not force a closed block or board route.
Organisation
Two against two in an indoor corner. A1 starts near the board; A2 supports behind. One exit is central, one farther along the clear board.
Execution
A scores by crossing an exit under control. B may close routes but must never pin a player against the board. If fully trapped the coach stops and restarts through A2 with more room. After out-of-bounds or a score swap the starting corner player; swap teams after four attempts.
Coaching
- A2 remains visible as the safe recycle.
- Create distance from board pressure first.
- Preserve playing space; stop a trapped duel.
Easier
B2 only guards the central exit.
Harder
B may change the guarded exit after a return; A reassesses.
What to observe
Count escapes through clear routes and safely stopped traps.
Equipment
Sticks, one active ball, spare balls outside the area and cones; mini-goals where drawn. Use a safe indoor floor and suitable boards. Dimensions and duration are adaptable starting proposals.
