In developmentTriangle with a free return
Offer a usable support angle again after passing.
4 players · 8 min · 14 × 14 m
The animation shows one played situation with a decision and response, not a required pattern. Regains and restarts are marked schematically; stop unsafe pressure. Finishes use unoccupied practice goals with clear run-off.
Organisation
Four players: A1, A2 and A3 against B1 in a square. All attackers may move; there are no fixed corner stations.
Execution
Three consecutive passes score one point, but a return counts only after the previous passer creates a new angle. B1 may intercept. On a regain the player losing possession defends; restart out-of-bounds with a free attacker. Also rotate after 45 seconds.
Coaching
- Move out of the cover shadow after passing.
- Offer two different passing angles.
- When was a return safer than playing forward?
Easier
B1 walks and may only screen passing lanes.
Harder
A point must include the third player; two players cannot make all the passes.
What to observe
Count points and check whether the passer genuinely became available before a return.
Equipment
Sticks, one active ball, spare balls outside the area and cones; mini-goals where drawn. Dimensions and duration are adaptable starting proposals.
Formation and position role
4-3-3 · Central midfielder
As the central midfielder, scan over both shoulders before receiving. Receive with a next pass available and move to a new supporting angle after passing. This small possession game practises that individual task, not the entire team build-up.
3-4-3 · Central midfielder
As the central midfielder, scan over both shoulders before receiving. Receive with a next pass available and move to a new supporting angle after passing. This small possession game practises that individual task, not the entire team build-up.
