In developmentLook up and choose a gate
Notice a changing cue while controlling the ball.
2 players · 6 min · 14 × 12 m
The animation shows one played situation with a decision and response, not a required pattern. Regains and restarts are marked schematically; stop unsafe pressure. Finishes use unoccupied practice goals with clear run-off.
Organisation
Two players, three cone gates in a triangle. A1 starts centrally with the ball; A2 stands behind a gate and gives the direction without defending.
Execution
A2 moves to a gate: it is closed. A1 carries through another gate and stops the ball beyond it for one point. Return centrally. Swap after three choices. Count correct decisions in 30 seconds without racing.
Coaching
- Take a brief look up before changing direction.
- Keep the ball within playing reach when stopping.
- Which gate became free late?
Easier
A2 stops at the closed gate before the carrier starts.
Harder
A2 may change gates once before A1 leaves the centre marker.
What to observe
Count free gates reached with a controlled stop; record wrong choices separately.
Equipment
Sticks, one active ball, spare balls outside the area and cones; mini-goals where drawn. Dimensions and duration are adaptable starting proposals.
