Use width to separate a defensive pair.
6 players · 9 min · 26 × 20 m
The animation shows one played situation with a decision and response, not a required pattern. Regains and restarts are marked schematically; stop unsafe pressure. Finishes use unoccupied practice goals with clear run-off.
Organisation
Four builders against two defenders. Two wide end gates; the two deeper builders stay behind halfway until the ball crosses it.
Execution
A scores by carrying through an end gate. B scores after a regain by passing to the starting baseline. Returns are always allowed. After a point or out-of-bounds restart A deep; change the defending pair every minute.
Coaching
- Keep the deeper support at different widths.
- Carry forward when a defender has to choose.
- When did the pair shift too far?
Easier
B only defends beyond halfway.
Harder
B may press anywhere; the deeper pair retain their halfway restriction.
What to observe
Count free exits reached after switching; observe the distance between B1 and B2.
Equipment
Sticks, one active ball, spare balls outside the area and cones; mini-goals where drawn. Dimensions and duration are adaptable starting proposals.
