In developmentReceive beyond pressure
Shape the first touch to the direction of approaching pressure.
3 players · 7 min · 16 × 12 m
The animation shows one played situation with a decision and response, not a required pattern. Regains and restarts are marked schematically; stop unsafe pressure. Finishes use unoccupied practice goals with clear run-off.
Organisation
Three players: A1 feeder, A2 receiver, B1 shadow defender. A2 stands between two exit gates. B1 chooses a flank before the pass and starts at a safe distance.
Execution
A1 passes to A2. B1 closes that flank without tackling. A2 receives towards the other exit and carries through for one point using at most two controlling touches. B1 cannot cross an exit. Rotate feeder, receiver and shadow every three balls.
Coaching
- Check both shoulders before the pass.
- Open your feet towards the free exit.
- Why did the first touch fit this pressure?
Easier
B1 chooses early; allow two extra touches.
Harder
B1 chooses as the pass leaves; increase separation if receiving becomes rushed.
What to observe
Record five receptions: shoulder check, free exit and ball control.
Equipment
Sticks, one active ball, spare balls outside the area and cones; mini-goals where drawn. Dimensions and duration are adaptable starting proposals.
