In developmentHand over crossing runners
Agree who guards the ball and who takes a crossing runner.
4 players · 9 min · 22 × 18 m
The animation shows one played situation with a decision and response, not a required pattern. Regains and restarts are marked schematically; stop unsafe pressure. Finishes use unoccupied practice goals with clear run-off.
Organisation
Two attackers against two defenders. Two receiving boxes at the far end. Attackers start on different sides and may cross freely.
Execution
A scores with a pass to a teammate in a receiving box; carrying in does not count. B scores with a regain controlled outside the boxes. After a point or out-of-bounds restart A on the other flank. Defenders call ball or runner before each attempt; swap teams after four attempts.
Coaching
- Keep the ball in view during a handover.
- Communicate before the crossing, not afterwards.
- Do not ask one defender to take both runners.
Easier
Attackers may cross only on an agreed line.
Harder
Let the carrier choose a carry or bounce before the scoring pass.
What to observe
Count double marking and unguarded receptions; discuss the useful call.
Equipment
Sticks, one active ball, spare balls outside the area and cones; mini-goals where drawn. Dimensions and duration are adaptable starting proposals.
